A total of 109 trainees began courses with Rolls-Royce Power Systems in Germany and abroad. 54 apprentices and 16 students on dual study courses started out on their careers at the Friedrichshafen location. Patrick Müller, Head of HR International and Shared Services Germany at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, and Alexandra Klatt from the Works Council at MTU Friedrichshafen greeted the new apprentices at an initial event. Among the apprentices were two refugees who gained their initial professional entry qualification at MTU Friedrichshafen at the start of the year along with eight other participants.

Four Robert Allen/ Rastar 2900 SX terminal tugs from Sanmar will be used in the fleet in the Tanger-Med Port in Morocco, operated by the Danish towage company Svitzer as of 2018. The tugs will each be fitted with two 16V 4000 M73L MTU engines. This is the first time high-speed engines are being used to power harbour tugs in this power class (90t bollard pull).
