Rolls-Royce has signed a contract for the supply of a 28 MWe power plant for state-owned utility Martinska teplarenska, a.s. in Slovakia. The three Rolls-Royce Bergen B35:40V20AG2 natural gas engines and four hot-water boilers will replace the entire existing coal operation. As well as electricity, the engines and boilers will supply over 28 MW of heat to most of the 60,000 population of the cities of Martin and Vrutky.

Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, the state railway of the Republic of Ireland, and Porterbrook, the UK’s largest rolling stock leasing company, have ordered a total of 13 MTU Hybrid PowerPacks from Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce is expanding its portfolio of energy systems with the addition of microgrid solutions for mines from MTU Onsite Energy. This means that mine operators will now be offered a sustainable energy supply system that can be operated in remote regions independently of public power grids.
