  • Corporate Health Award for employee health system
  • First place in mechanical engineering/heavy industries category

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, GERMANY

Rolls-Royce business unit Power Systems has been singled out for the Corporate Health Award in recognition of the exemplary health management program it operates at its Friedrichshafen location. The company took first place in the mechanical engineering/heavy industry category for large corporations. The Corporate Health Award is presented by market and business researcher EuPD Research, and Handelsblatt, the German daily. Accolades are awarded to the best companies and organizations in Germany in various industry categories.

Employees at Rolls-Royce Power Systems benefit from a very wide range of health-promoting offerings, including health courses spanning several days with medical check-up, lectures, nutrition counselling and ergonomic analyses of their workstations. They also have their own company gym.

Steffen Klink, director of the Corporate Health Awards, said, “We're very pleased to congratulate Rolls-Royce Power Systems on winning first prize in this category. It runs a highly effective corporate health management system, which it further enhances with preventive campaigns across a variety of health issues. And it takes an impressively no-fear approach to innovation, as shown by its projects in bionic engineering.

“Employees spend most of their time at work. As a company, we recognize that fact by supporting them in reconciling the demands of their job and their personal health,” said Dr Samuel Schmidt, head of the works medical service and leader of company health management.

Comprehensive health management brings benefits to all concerned: “Investing in a sustainable health management system inside a business simply pays off. A healthy workforce means less sick leave and lower costs, and the more staff feel at ease and are satisfied, the more motivated they'll be, which in turn drives our corporate success,” pointed out HR chief Alexandra Kuebler. “On top of that,” she added, “our health offerings undoubtedly make us more attractive to potential new recruits.”
